The Dancing Wheels Company Arts Midwest Independent Dance Showcase 10pm @ BalletMet
August 30, 2017 @ 10:00 pm - 10:25 pm
OhioDance and KMP Artists co-facilitate Independant Dance Showcases including our own showcase on Wednesday, August 30th at 10-10:25pm in the BalletMet Performance Space (322 Mount Vernon Avenue, behind BalletMet Dance Centre).
The Dancing Wheels Company will perform works that introduce audiences to the compelling and innovative movement that is physically integrated dance. Choreographer Lisa K. Lock’s critically-acclaimed Walls of Glass (2009) is a contemporary ballet which speaks of people and diversity, each with their own story and each daring to dream. In one such hopeful section of the ballet, Mary, a dancer in a wheelchair, is able to stand equal to her able-bodied partners in a device that allows her to glide across the stage and engage in elegantly partnered movements. In addition, anømalies [excerpt] (2012), based on the concepts of Newton’s Laws of Motion and choreographed by Mark Tomasic, is an action (and reaction) packed force to be reckoned with.
For persons attending the Arts Midwest Conference, shuttle services will be available from Davidson Theater (immediately after Spotlight Showcases) and will then be looping from the Hyatt Regency.
Although not required, RSVPs requested by emailing info@kmpartists.com or at booth #401.
For booking inquiries, please email Dancing Wheels Tour Manager or speak with KMP Artists at their Arts Midwest Conference booth.
