CLEVELAND, Ohio – A diverse group of artists has been awarded the 2016 Cleveland Arts Prize. They include a dancer, electronic and classical musicians, a writer, a visual artist and a smooth talker.
The board of trustees announced the 2016 winners Friday. The winners of the 56th annual awards will be honored at a ceremony at the Cleveland Museum of Art at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 30.
The winners are:
Lifetime Achievement Award: Mary Verdi-Fletcher, founder of Dancing Wheels Company and School in Cleveland. She is the first professional wheelchair dancer in the United States and one of the first in the world. She will be awarded $10,000.
